Kurt Cobain Documentary Hitting Theaters in October

Kurt Cobain: About A Son For the upcoming Kurt Cobain documentary, Kurt Cobain: About A Son, director AJ Schnack sorted through 25 hours of audio interviews conducted by author Michael Azerrad for the book Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana and "merged them with newly filmed, evocative imagery of the three cities in Washington state that played a major role in Cobain's life: Aberdeen, Olympia and Seattle." The film opens in theaters in New York on October 3, Los Angeles on October 5 and Seattle on October 12. More about the film:
The film is not a documentary about Nirvana, the band Kurt fronted, nor is it even a documentary in the traditional sense, but a profound, almost dream-like account of Cobain's own successes and failures, thoughts and experiences, allowing the audience unprecedented intimacy with a legendary figure in popular culture.
Barsuk is set to release the film's soundtrack on September 11th. Along with excerpts of the Azerrad interviews and original music by Ben Gibbard and Steve Fisk, the soundtrack includes tracks from some of Cobain's biggest influences including David Bowie, Iggy Pop, R.E.M., and the Vaselines. Here's our second peak at Wolf Parade's wonderful forthcoming At Mount Zoomer. (See "Call it a Ritual" to catch up.) The Montreal band definitely appears to have avoided the sophomore slump that plagues so many "next big things." Get the album June 17the via Sub Pop. [DOWNLOAD]
