Apple Unveils New iPods, Launches WiFi Music Store
Hot off the heels of the recent iPhone touch-screen frenzy the mock turtled one unveiled the next generation of iPods yesterday. The star of the show was
iPod touch
—basically an iPhone minus the phone. Both iPod touch and
iPhone
will now (FINALLY) have
WiFi access
to the iTunes Music Store—which is sure to up the number of hit song impulse shoppers—and the ability to use iTunes purchased songs as ringtones. iPod touch includes most of iPhone's OS X package, including Safari, for a reasonable $299 (8GB) and $399 (16GB) pricetag. The 8GB iPhone also had its priced slashed to $399 and Apple has done away with the 4GB model.
Other developments included the introduction of
iPod classic
which comes in whopping 80GB and 160GB versions and a new
iPod nano
that supports video... cause Steve Jobs knows how we've been holding out on finally seeing
Pirates of the Caribbean
for the theater feel of a 2-inch screen. Magnifying glass not included.

The Impossible Shapes
Hey!
Like any good Midwestern college-town boys coming of age in the late '90s, the Impossible Shapes became sons of the Elephant 6 sound. Their latest is simply titled with a symbol-- a
sigil
-- but is being referred to as self-titled. It's out 6/17 on Secretly Canadian.
