Syd Barrett Doc to Get Deluxe Reissue

Syd Barrett On September 18th, The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story will get the deluxe treatment through MVD Entertainment Group. The two-disc set ups the original running time from 49 minutes to a whopping 203 minutes. That's more than a three hour Syd trip for all you stoner mathematicians.

From the MVD website:
John Edginton's documentary tells the full bizarre, tragic and celebratory story of Syd Barrett with contribution from friends, managers, and band members - Roger Waters, Dave Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright. The film includes rare early television appearances of Pink Floyd and home movies too. In this new definitive edition DVD, the full unedited interviews conducted by the director with Pink Floyd are now made available raw and unedited, alongside the original documentary. The three hours of DVD extras also include acoustic performances of Syds songs by Robyn Hitchcock and ex-Blur member Graham Coxon.
Here's an excerpt from the original release:

Syd Barrett's Final Pink Floyd Video to Air on BBC

Uncut breaks news of a rare Pink Floyd promo video airing on BBC's The Seven Ages Of Rock in May. Great news for stoners all over the UK, but what really caught our eye was how high the author must have been:

First of all the song is "Jugband Blues." Jughead is a character from the Archie comics. Second of all David Gilmour replaced Barrett. Come on Uncut! Put down the bong. Hasn't Pink Floyd and/or Syd Barrett graced your cover like 900 times? Anyway, it's a good excuse to post the video that they may be referring to:

Update: Uncut has seen the error of its ways.

Consider Rook essential summer listening. Like your "Summer Reading" list, Rook isn't really "summer-y" at all. It's heavy, dense, dramatic and beautiful and dark. Four of those five adjectives actually DO apply to summer, come to think of it... - jimtarnation  [READ REVIEW]
