MP3: Odawas - "The Case of the Great Irish Elk" Demo

Odawas Odawas appear to be at work on a new album. At least that's what we gather from a recent blog post on their MySpace page and that's good news considering how great their last album, Raven And The White Night, was. The post addresses a new demo posted for the song "The Case of the Great Irish Elk" from a forthcoming unnamed album:
The song title was meant to be used long ago, the song wrote and recorded in a couple of days this past summer with isaac. originally it was meant to be a bonus track for the ill-fated one little indian re-release of the more animals of the arctic album.

It'll be on the new odawas record though, as it kind of started the whole thing....

MP3: Odawas - "I Tell Lies (Odawas Remix)"

Odawas Back in March Odawas released Raven and the White Night—a haunting record that heavily leaned toward Jack Nitzsche produced Neil Young. We ate it up and asked the boys if they'd do a little guest playlist for us. Now they've offer up a free Christmas MP3 for those of you who like you Christmas songs unconventional... and awesome.

A little set-up from Jagjaguwar:
There are plenty of Christmas tunes out there that celebrate the holiday spirit, with sleigh bells, pristine white snow, and lots of jolly characters. However, for all of you feeling the Christmas blues, the Odawas bring you "I Tell Lies (Odawas Remix)". Originally crafted for frontman Michael Tapscott's side project More Animals Of The Arctic (which Tapscott lovingly refers to as "the Parliament to the Odawas' Funkadelic"), "I Tell Lies" has been lovingly recrafted with a new mix by Isaac Edwards and a new vocal track from Mr. Tapscott. Enjoy!

"Recorded entirely under solar power," Brightblack Morning Light like things like tee-pees, headbands and most likely hallucinogenic drugs. More solar power to 'em. Their second album of slow motion hippie blues, Motion to Rejoin, is due September 23rd on Matador. [DOWNLOAD]

Consider Rook essential summer listening. Like your "Summer Reading" list, Rook isn't really "summer-y" at all. It's heavy, dense, dramatic and beautiful and dark. Four of those five adjectives actually DO apply to summer, come to think of it... - jimtarnation  [READ REVIEW]
