The New York Times previews Joanna Newsom's upcoming performances of Ys with the Brooklyn Philharmonic on January 31st and February 1st and interviews the "indie singer-harpist" about translating the album live: In a telephone interview from her home in Northern California, Ms. Newsom said she was ready to give “Ys” its valedictory. “The gravity of that record for me is so massive that I need to take my head out of it, or else I can’t do the kind of work I want to do, to move on,” she said. “It kind of makes me sad to be in the world I was in when I was writing that.
