Feist Wins Five Juno Awards

Feist Yeah, so your mom and your little sister know about Leslie Feist thanks to Steve Jobs. Does that really make her less cool? Well, maybe... But not according to Juno—not the slang talkin' pregnant teen but the awards ceremony better known as the Canadian Grammy's. (via Billboard)
Taking single of the year for "1 2 3 4," album of the year and pop album of the year for "The Reminder," Feist took the accolades in stride, joking that her family, who attended the event, were rarely in the same room, let alone one involving a red carpet.

The awards were vindication for the singer, raised in Calgary but now residing in Toronto and Paris, who was shut out at the Grammys after receiving four nominations earlier this year. She also won Junos for artist of the year and songwriter of the year at a Saturday gala.

Video: Feist - "1234" Live on Conan

Last night (6/12) Feist continued the late night talk show rounds with a performance of "1234" on Late Night with Conan O'Brien featuring tour mates Grizzly Bear in the feel-good backing vocal chorale (on the right). The whole gang headed over to Town Hall after the taping for their second show of a two-night stand. Visit the New York Times for a review of that concert.

Video: Feist - "My Moon My Man"

We continue our Feist love-fest with another reminder that The Reminder is out May 1st. "My Moon My Man" is the second official video for the forthcoming album and it's safe to say that Leslie likes to dance.

Video: Feist – "1234"

Feist goes beyond being huggable in this great video for "1234" from The Reminder. It was directed by Patrick Daughters who directed the very cool "Mushaboom" video. The Reminder is out May 1st... and it's really good.

The New Yorker Profiles Feist

Feist
Zeitfeist
The New Yorker examines Leslie Feist's history and excellent forthcoming album, The Reminder—out May 1st.
Feist’s manner onstage is businesslike: she is not given to moving much, unless a song is so rhythmically pronounced that it seems odd not to. For all the aloofness she projects in photographs, onstage she is plainspoken and relaxed, more focussed on playing than on winning over the crowd. Though the material was obviously new to some of Feist’s bandmates (other musicians had helped record the album), they ably navigated the quiet songs, adding dashes of trumpet and backing vocals at unexpected moments. (This was one of many recent shows suggesting that arrangements may be the new frontier in indie rock, as the music moves farther and farther from its punk roots and as musicians like Burt Bacharach and Brian Wilson are cited more often as inspirations; the glockenspiel is the new guitar feedback.) Video: Feist - "My Moon My Man"

"My Moon My Man" is the first of several YouTube "webisodes" promoting Feist's forthcoming The Reminder—out May 1st on Cherrytree/Interscope. It's a seductively cool tune and the video features the Canadian chanteuse hard at work in the studio.

In the first few seconds of Awesome Color's second album it's apparent that the Michigan-bred Brooklyn trio's take-no-prisoners approach to pure Motor City rock and roll is more than plain homage. They're proud of their roots... - Ruben_James  [READ REVIEW]
