The first time I heard this song I was driving home late at night listening to San Francisco's oldies station and I was so moved I had to pull over. Sounds like hundreds of people on the chorus.

5. Leonard Cohen - Chelsea Hotel #2

I drove my band mad listening to this song over and over again on tour. Lots of dead people around me I guess. There is an impossible to find movie of his 1972 tour and the version of this song on it would make anybody cry. Totally different and better lyrics too. I guess it's about Janis Joplin, which doesn't do much for me one way or the other, but I thought you should know.

10. Graham Nash - Simple Man

I had a realization lately that I like Crosby Stills and Nash alone more than together. This album is way better than I expected. Some naively cliche political lyrics, but I know he was sincere. And no blue eyed soul brother to ruin things by taking it over the top. I hope I never have to sing this song to anybody.
