Thanks to College radio in the U.S, this original B-side (to Grass) became an A-side in it's own right. Banned by BBC Radio, it nonetheless made its mark; not by chart success, but by exposure. Few songwriters can hit the mark in quite the way Andy Partridge can. The lyrics are of a true wordsmith, on a subject some would find too daunting. How many people publically write a letter to God himself? Some think it offensive; I think it expressive. It's quite old now, and has been covered by numerous bands/artists; yet it still holds its place.
