I bought this record several weeks ago on a whim because a friend said it got a good review on pitchfordmedia (they gave it a 9.2 i think -- jeez, I should give it a 2.9). I blame myself for this impulse purchase, and would normally just let this go and pretend that pitchfork was going to send me a check for reimbursement. however, today I went into one of the cooler record stores here in Williamsburg, and in postion #2, on their "Most purchased albums list", was Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary. Anyway, I think people will be disappointed in this one. There just weren't any songs that a liked all that much, so I guess I thought it was kind of boring. Maybe it's sort of nicely produced, but the songs themselves don't seem to keep me all that interested.

OK OK OK..........Maaaan, I have to say...I think I spoke too quick when I gave this album a fairly negative review here. I heard this record when it first came out, and it really didn't strike me as somthing that I like. And I think, the huge buzz about this band right from start just rubbed me the wrong way. hahaha. Anyway, as the months passed, I found myself sneaking another listen here and there. And.....I am now ready to admit that this album IS PRETTY FUCKING AWESOME. I can't get enough actually. The song "I'll Believe In Anything" is probably the most powerful pop song of the whole year. So, damn, I don't know what my problem was.....but I guess some albums just take a little time to sink in.
