I decided to get this CD while browsing at 'Other Music' in NY. I think I decided to buy it purely based on the little blurb that the store wrote about it. It said something about it reminding them of Elliott Smith. I looked at the back and saw it was on Drag City, and thought it was probably a pretty safe bet. I'm glad i got it. I would definitely recommend this one. I'm really into just plain old catchy pop melodies, and that is pretty much what this has to offer. The 'Other Music' blurb was very useful and very correct. This reminds me of a cross between Elliott Smith and Iron & Wine perhaps --- mellow singing, and nice melodies, and overall great songwriting.

Track 2 is one of my favorites and a really fun one. On track 3, you really begin to hear the Elliott Smith tinge. And you here this influence here and there on several others as well throughout the album. Track 5 is a really nice instrumental one, which i didn't expect. Track 6, "Wrong Turn" has a melody and hook that I really like--there is however some kind of cheesy casio sounding drum machine in the background that rubs me the wrong way, and it kind of hurts the song in my opinion. i don't know...maybe it'll grow on me.

Overall, I like every song on this record, and you should go out and get it.
