Kevin Barnes truly is one of the most talented, interesting song writers to come along in the last 10 years, and "Skeletal Lamping" keeps the winning streak alive with an album full of fragmented songs, each piece unrelated to the next similar to the track "No Conclusion" on last year's EP. The uneven, rapidly changing nature of the songs compliment the album's theme of sexual corruption and dominance. Tracks like "Gallery Piece" and "For Our Elegant Caste" bring forth the the Kevin Barnes that "takes it both ways" and wants to make you "cum 200 times a day". While the second half of the album seems to loose a bit of steam, album closer and first single "Id Engager" showcases Barne's ability to write a great dance song. The second half only seems the be the lesser after the masterpiece one two punch of "Touched Something's Hollow" and "An Eludarian Instance" which manage the same emotional outpour masked by brilliant upbeat grooves and beach boy harmonies. While this album may not overpower "Fauna" it comes damn close.
