This album by the now San Francisco Trio (bass player just quit to focus on his other band) is quite an offering. The first thing that sticks out to me is the well-recorded and downright rock-n-roll guitars. Okay, the first thing that really sticks out is the vocals but damn that's some cool guitar. What has usually stood out to me about this band is the rhythm section, it is very solid, but this album seems more about the smooth melody caress than pounding the skin(s).
The 20 song album consists of vacuum sealed 3 minutes or less (except for a few over that mark) flavor-sealed tunesmithery. All the songs are packed with spices and an energy that explodes upon each point and click/ menu select. However you may access its music, it always unleashes goodness with all freshness intact.
"Wrong Time Capsule" is a fun number with lyrics that talk about being caught in the machine. Capsule begins with good swaying cutting rhythm that slows down in the middle for a little contemplation/mutilation. After repose, it attacks and syncopates with screaming anti-machine machine keyboards ending instrumentally. The next tune, "Spirit Ditties of No Tone" is a great example of their drums and bass superglue with playful lyrics. "Siriustar" is a great piece of rock. It has many tempo changes, great melody and wonderful sounds: distinctive guitar and noise manipulation.
All in all a very strong record.
